Chapter 14: Combat Between the Commander and the Emperor

I hurriedly called out to them when I saw Viktor and Alexel enter the place that had been maintained as a training ground for the knights.

“Wait a minute! What in the world do you two intend to do to each other!?”

“Of course, I will work with His Majesty Emperor Alexel.”

“That’s right. So, Cecilia, wait there for a moment. I’ll be done in a minute.”

“That’s my line.”

“Hmm, I’m not so sure about that.”

Then the two of them looked at each other with sharp eyes.

”No, no, no, no, no…You don’t need such a self-indulgent hand-to-hand greeting! As expected of a neighboring country, even against the Emperor…it could be an international incident!”

“No, that’s not a problem. It’s not a duel. It’s hand-to-hand combat. And I wanted to do it myself. I’ll take full responsibility for anything that happens. Right, Noel?”

When Alexel took off the cloak that was fastened by his shoulders and threw it behind him, Noel was standing there, receiving the cloak and smiling.

“Yes. That’s right. Besides, I will be your witness, so please don’t worry.”

“What? How long has Noel been there all by himself!?”

“Fufu, I wonder how long it will take.”

I asked Noel in surprise, but he let out a chuckle and got sidetracked.

Noel is as elusive as ever…

While thinking about this, Viktor and Alexel had each received a dulled sword as a practice blade from Theo and Douglas, respectively.

Seeing the two of them, I gave up on the idea of trying to stop them.

“…Both of you, just try not to get hurt!”

“Ha! I will do everything I can to do so.”

“Well, I’ll try to remember that.”

I let out a small sigh as I looked at the two men who didn’t actually promise not to, and moved out of their way.

So they stood facing each other, both holding their swords at the ready.

Then Theo stood between them and looked at Viktor and Alexel.

“Both sides, please be fair. Now begin!”

As soon as Theo swung down his right hand, he declared loudly and immediately left the scene.

At the same time, Viktor and Alexel ran out to close the gap between them.

The next moment the sound of metal colliding with metal echoed around the area.

Then they looked at each other with a sharply, exchanging glances as they fiercely brushed each other’s faces, and at the same time, they jumped back and separated from each other.

“Huh, I guess it’s not going to be so easy after all.”

“I agree with that.”

They grinned at each other as they said that.

…It looks as if they understand each other’s abilities just from that one moment.

I’ve never learned swordsmanship, and of course I’ve never been in a power fight, so I didn’t understand how it felt to recognize another person’s power like that.

Looking at them with confusion, Victor rushed toward Alexel while lowering his hips.

And then he quickly stepped into Alexel’s space and tried to strike the sword he held at his side.

But immediately, Alexel reacted to the move, catching Viktor’s sword with his own, and then moving quickly to get behind Viktor, pointing the tip of his sword in a different direction..

Then Alexel flipped his sword and raised it, and swung it straight at Viktor’s back.

But Viktor immediately reacted to the move, and instead of turning around, he held his sword above his head to the side and caught Alexel’s sword.

The knights who were watching after seeing these two people, cheered.

“Knight Commander Viktor, you’re doing pretty good.”

“Your Majesty, Emperor Alexel, you are the one who…”

As those words were exchanged, Viktor flicked back Alexel’s sword and quickly rolled forward and away from Alexel, keeping distance from him.

The two of them were once again holding their swords at the ready, looking for the right moment to slash at each other.

I was glued to their fight, half in suspense at the sight of the two men, and half thinking it was cool to see them fighting.

I’m glad I came to see this up close and personal!!!

I was so excited to see a scene of real men fighting each other that I had never seen in the game before.

The two men were fiercely fighting each other with swords, trying to strike a blow at any opportunity, but they were so close to each other that they couldn’t come to a decisive blow.

This went on for a while, and when the sweat started to build up on each other’s foreheads, the two men made their move at the same time.

They started to hit each other’s swords with the fastest sword-clash ever, and my eyes couldn’t keep up with the quick movement

All I could hear was the sound of their swords clashing in a very fast manner.

I was so worried about them that I began to worry that they might be injured.

Just then, the voice of someone who should not have been here echoed through the training camp.

“That’s enough!”

I was surprised to hear the voice, and when I turned around, I saw Kaiser coming towards me with a grim expression on his face.

When I looked closely, I realized that Princess Victoria was chasing after him, and she headed towards us as fast as she could.

When I turned around to face Viktor and the others, I saw Alexel, who was kneeling on one knee with the tip of his sword at Viktor’s throat.

I thought it meant that Alexel’s had won, but as I looked closely, I realized that Viktor had also stopped the tip of his sword in front of Alexel’s stomach.

Kaiser, who had a dismayed expression, approached the two who did not make any movements.

“I’m not sure what you are doing here, but I could hear the commotion from even inside the castle, you know?”

Viktor and Alexel both put their swords down. Viktor stood up and straightened his crumpled clothes, and Alexel also straightened his clothes as he handed his practice sword to Douglas.

Then Noel approached Alexel and silently put his cloak on his shoulder.

“Prince Kaiser, I apologize for the disturbance. I was having a little meeting with Emperor Alexel.”

“Meeting Emperor Alexel? Isn’t it a duel?”

“Oh, yes. I wanted to know how good the Knight Commander of this country, Knight Commander Viktor, really was. We were just doing a little sparring. There’s witnesses here.”

Alexel said that and looked around, and everyone, including me, nodded in agreement.

“I see…If that’s the case, let’s just put it that way. Well, as far as I’m concerned, as long as there’s no harm to Cecilia, there’s no problem.”

Kaiser glanced over and smiled at me.

I smiled awkwardly when I saw Kaiser like that.

Well, at any rate, no one was injured and the result was a draw, so I guess it’s fortunate that neither of them will be disappointed. Besides, it looks like Kaiser’s appearance managed to stop it all.

I was relieved to hear that in my heart.

However, I then heard a high-pitched voice shouting at me.

“Well! Brother!! What have you been doing in a place like this!?”

“Victoria? Nothing much, really. I was just doing a little sparring to get a feel for the guy.”

Alexel glanced at Viktor and spoke.

Then Princess Victoria looked at Alexel with an expression that said she couldn’t believe it.

“Brother fought in a match with you!? I can’t believe it! I’ve never seen my brother do that before! Didn’t you always have someone else do it for you!? Why is it only this time…”

Princess Victoria said this, moving her gaze around, and then she spotted me and blinked.

“It’s your fault, isn’t it!?

“What? No, no…No, it’s not, right?

“How can I possibly understand that!? What the hell are you talking about!? I knew it was your fault after all!!”

I didn’t really understand why Viktor and Alexel had started dueling in the first place, but from the way the conversation was going, I felt like I was the cause, so I became ambiguous, and Princess Victoria became even more furious when she saw me.

“You are constantly having a bad influence on my brother!”

“Is that so?”

“Yes! Otherwise, my brother would never have prioritized you over me!”

Hearing Princess Victoria’s words, I was at a loss as to what to say.

If possible, I’d like Princess Victoria to have priority over me too. That way, I wouldn’t have to deal with Alexel, and I wouldn’t have to be engaged in the first place…Why did this happen?

With that in mind, I remembered the first time I greeted Alexel, and at that time I thought for sure that Princess Victoria was a higher priority.

But somehow, afterwards, I had only barely spoken to Alexel, and for some reason became his fiancée.

Hmm, I don’t know why this happened, even after thinking about it…

I groaned to myself in thought.

“Hey! Are you listening to me!?”

“Victoria…that’s enough. It was my choice to start this in the first place. You have no right to tell me what to do.”

“Hey, brother!?”

“Princess Victoria, please calm down. Wouldn’t it spoil your beautiful face to be so angry?”

Kaiser approached Princess Victoria and smiled at her with that pseudo-smile on his face.

Then Princess Victoria looked at him and blushed, looking ecstatic.

However, she immediately turned her face away from him and had a twinkle in her eye, but her cheeks were still red.

“If Prince Kaiser says so, then I’ll do so this time.”

“Thank you.”

While thanking Princess Victoria, who was still turning away, Kaiser turned his head towards me and gave me a smile that wasn’t a pseudo-smile this time.

Seeing that smile of love suddenly directed at me, I, on the contrary, froze in place.

Wow~ I’m honestly scared to death of the black-hearted prince as usual…

But I immediately huffed and looked at Princess Victoria’s brother, Alexel.

As I expected, he was looking at Kaiser with a very unhappy face.

“Ah, Alexel…”

“…It’s okay. Because that method is certainly calming Victoria down the quickest way.”

That said, Alexel’s sullen face still didn’t fix.

“Now, now, Prince Kaiser! It’s time for us to return to the castle!”

“What? No, we could stay here a little longer if we wanted to…”

Princess Victoria, in a better mood, wrapped her arms around Kaiser and started to walk towards the castle.

Kaiser looked at me with a regretful look on his face as Princess Victoria’s held onto his arm.

I waved him off in support of such a Kaiser in my heart.

“…You’re a sinful woman too, aren’t you?”

“What? Really?”

“Princess, I feel for Prince Kaiser as well.”

“Is that so? I…I understand. I’ll go over to Kaiser’s room later and apologize.”

“…No, you don’t have to go that far.”

“That’s right! The Princess’ feelings are enough! So definitely don’t think of visiting Prince Kaiser’s room. Especially if you are alone!”

“I agree with Knight Commander Viktor on that one.”

The two who had been fighting so much a moment ago, for some reason, were in perfect harmony with each other and were trying to get me to do something about it.

I was bewildered by their behavior, but I could only nod my head repeatedly in silence.
